At Muratho Laboratory Services and Consulting, our onsite SANAS accredited laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art machinery to provide microbiological, food safety, and food quality testing. We offer comprehensive services to ensure peace of mind and guarantee quality results in the shortest possible time.

Microbiological Analysis

Our microbiological analysis services include:

  • Analyses of potable water and treated effluent discharges
  • Heterotrophic Plate Count
  • Total Coliform Bacteria
  • E. coli

Wastewater & Industrial Effluent

We provide the following services:

  • Compliance monitoring as per Green-Drop Requirements
  • Assessment and sampling of different process units
  • Assessment of plant performance and compliance
  • Analyses of sewage samples according to DWS guidelines and standards
  • Analyses of industrial effluents according to Municipal by-law requirements

Among others, we conduct the following analyses on raw and treated sewage:

  • Ortho- and Total Phosphate
  • Sludge Volume Index
  • Settleable- and Suspended Solids (SS)

Chemical Analysis

POTABLE WATER

Muratho Laboratory Services and Consulting (Pty) Ltd, a SANAS Accredited Testing Laboratory, No: T0391, participates in Proficiency Testing Schemes for both Water Chemistry and Microbiology. Muratho Laboratory Services and Consulting (Pty) Ltd provides the following services:

  • Compliance monitoring as per Blue-Drop Requirements
  • Guidance with sampling programs
  • Sampling of purified drinking water at treatment plants and distribution systems
  • Evaluation and inspection of potable water plants
  • Assessment of process units
  • Training of plant operators to conduct sampling according to SANS protocols
  • Laboratory flocculation and stabilization tests to determine optimum dosage
  • Analyses of potable water samples according to SANS 241 requirements
  • Loading of results on the Blue Drop System

Amongst others, Muratho Laboratory Services and Consulting (Pty) Ltd conducts the following analyses on potable water:

  • pH, Electrical Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Color, Taste & Odor, Turbidity
  • Ammonia, Nitrate, Chloride, Sulphate, Fluoride
  • Total and Dissolved Organic Carbon, Free Cyanide, Phenols, Trihalo-methanes
  • Microbiology: Total Coliform Bacteria, Faecal & E. coli
  • Metals by ICP-OES or ICP-MS

Swabs Analysis

Muratho Laboratory Services and Consulting (Pty) Ltd provide Chemical Analysis. This includes the following:

  • Total plate count
  • Total coliforms
  • Salmonella
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria spp
  • E. coli

Food and Food Products

(Heatprocessed milk and dairy products, Raw meat and ready-to-cook meat products (Except poultry) Readyto-eat, ready-to-reheat meat products; Raw poultry and readyto-cook poultry products; Ready to-eat, ready-to re-heat meat poultry products; eggs and egg products (derivates); Ready-to-eat, ready-to-reheat fishery products; Fresh produce and fruits,; Processed fruits and vegetables; Dried cereals, Fruits, Nuts, Seeds and Vegetables; Chocolate, Bakery products and Confectionary; Multicomponent or meal components.)

  • Detection and Enumeration of Escherichia coli and coliform
  • Enumeration of microorganisms: Colony count at 30ºC by the pour plate count technique
  • Detection and Enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae
  • Enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci (Staphylococcus aureus)
  • Detection and Enumeration of Salmonella
  • Detection and Enumeration of Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria spp
  • Detection and Enumeration of Yeast and Mould
